   നക്ഷത്രം,ആഴ്ച,തിഥി,കരണം,നിത്യയോഗം ഇവ ചേര്‍ന്നതാണ്  പഞ്ചാംഗം.ചന്ദ്രന്‍ ഏതു നക്ഷത്രത്തിനു നേരെ നില്ക്കുന്നുവോ അതാണ് അന്നത്തെ നക്ഷത്രം.ചാന്ദ്രമാസത്തില്‍ രണ്ടു പക്ഷം.ഒരുപക്ഷത്തിലെ ഒരു ദിവസമാണ് ഒരു തിഥി.തിഥിയുടെ പകുതി കരണം.നഗ്ന നേത്രങ്ങള്‍കൊണ്ട് കാണാന്‍കഴിയുന്ന ഗ്രഹങ്ങളുടെ പേരിലാണ് ആഴ്ചകള്‍.സൂര്യ ഗതിയും ചന്ദ്രഗതിയുംചേര്‍ന്നുവരുന്നതാണ് നിത്യയോഗം.
